COURSE SUMMARY: This webinar summarizes "Why patients bleed - How to convert the bloody 5 mm prophy"  Patients with 5mm pockets and bleeding gums are not a routine prophy; they have an infection. We will provide you with the necessary tools to convert these patients, including education on the causes of their bleeding and, most importantly, the verbal skills to effectively discuss the infection with them.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  • Differentiate between a “clean” mouth and a healthy one, understanding the roles of biofilm and calculus in periodontal disease and why bleeding may occur even after routine prophylaxis.

  • Identify the primary causes of periodontal disease, including pathogenic bacteria and biofilm, and understand how they lead to bleeding and inflammation in patients.

  • Develop effective verbal scripts to educate and convert long-time prophylaxis patients with 5mm bleeding pockets into accepting necessary periodontal care.

  • Utilize your unique personality traits to build rapport with patients and tailor communication strategies, enhancing treatment acceptance and patient outcomes.
